Forensic Psychology Services

At The Thought Centre, we provide comprehensive forensic psychological assessments to support legal proceedings and inform decision-making. Our assessments are conducted with the highest standards of clinical integrity, ensuring accurate, objective, and evidence-backed evaluations.

We work with the court, defence counsel, legal professionals, and individuals who require psychological assessments in legal contexts. We currently only offer services for criminal cases.

Our services

  • A forensic risk assessment evaluates an individual’s risk of future offending, aggression, or violence. These assessments help guide legal decisions, inform risk management strategies, and provide recommendations for rehabilitation.

    Our forensic risk assessments may include:

    • Evaluating risk factors for reoffending or violent behaviour

    • Identifying protective factors and intervention strategies

    • Providing recommendations for risk mitigation and treatment

  • Under Section 34 of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, courts may order a psychological assessment to better understand a young person’s mental health, cognitive functioning, and social-emotional needs. These assessments provide critical insights into factors influencing behaviour and guide sentencing, rehabilitation, and treatment planning.

    Our Section 34 assessments may include:

    • Cognitive and psychological evaluation to assess mental health concerns, neurodevelopmental conditions (e.g., ADHD, learning disabilities), and trauma history

    • Risk and protective factor analysis to identify influences on behaviour and potential for rehabilitation

    • Recommendations for sentencing considerations, rehabilitation, and support services

  • At The Thought Centre, we offer offence-specific treatment designed to address the underlying factors contributing to harmful behaviors. Using evidence-based approaches, we work with individuals to develop insight, build healthier coping strategies, and reduce the risk of reoffending.

    Our treatment plans are tailored to each person’s unique needs and may focus on:

    • Understanding triggers and behavior patterns
