Collaborative and strengths-based

Children and teens come to us with many unique strengths and interests. I aim to get to know who you are as an individual and family and integrate your values into our work together. I use a collaborative approach to develop individualized treatment plans that suit you or your child’s unique goals, interests, and experiences. I will present my authentic self in our time together, so that you can feel comfortable doing the same. As a team, we will discover your strengths and build new tools for coping with challenges in a way that feels engaging and meaningful to you.

Creative and experiential

I use play, humour, and creative expression as a way to help approach difficult topics and teach skills through hands-on experiences. I draw from my training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) in my therapeutic practice and focus on teaching skills that you can carry with you through your life. I combine evidence-based treatments with play-based techniques to teach skills in an engaging, experiential manner. I have a background supporting neurodiverse youth to find tools for understanding their emotions and building meaningful social connections.

Helping you find answers

If you’re feeling overwhelmed with questions, I can help you find answers through assessment and consultation services. I provide comprehensive psychological assessments to identify underlying learning, developmental, and mental health conditions as well as individual strengths and capacities. I have a deep appreciation for the complexities of parenting and provide parent consultation to support parents in understanding new diagnoses and developing individualized parenting strategies that suit your child and family.

My details

I received my PhD in School and Applied Child Psychology from the University of Calgary. I have taught university-level courses in school psychology, trauma and resilience, as well as graduate-level courses in statistics and psychometrics. My research has focused on the concept of stress-related growth, which is the idea that individuals can experience positive change out of their experiences with stress, adversity, and trauma. As a researcher, therapist, and person, I appreciate each individual’s capacity for positive change.

In addition to my private work, I am a full-time School Psychologist with the York Region District School Board where I support students’ learning and well-being through psychological assessment and consultation services.
