Annie Beatty
CLINICAL ASSOCIATE
Welcome! There is always a seat at this table.
I am a PhD Student studying School and Applied Child Psychology. My primary areas of practice are in psychological assessment and therapy for children and adolescents.
Working in partnership
I offer comprehensive assessments to support children and youth in understanding their unique learning styles, developmental needs, and emotional/behavioural challenges. We all learn differently, and my goal is to help individuals and families gain clarity around the areas where additional support may be helpful. In therapy, my practice is to collaborate with you to set meaningful goals and to meet you where you are while encouraging growth and positive change. Drawing from evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), I create individualized, flexible treatment plans tailored to the needs of each child, youth, and family.
Leading with laughter
Coming to a psychology office can be an overwhelming experience for children (and parents!). I am here to create a space that feels safe, supportive, and enjoyable for all that walk through the door. I bring my authentic, candid self into the room and I encourage you to do the same. Together, we will work towards achieving goals and answering questions while integrating humour, creativity, and play along the way.
Getting the whole picture
I approach assessment and therapy through a holistic lens, recognizing that all children are shaped by a rich combination of experiences, identities, and environments. My goal is to get to know you as a human to support you in an individualized and tailored manner. As a white, cisgendered woman, I am mindful of the privilege I hold and the responsibility that comes with it. I am committed to ongoing reflection, learning, and cultural humility, so that our work together honours your full story and supports your growth with empathy and respect.
How did I get here?
I am currently completing my doctoral degree in School and Applied Child Psychology at the University of Western Ontario. My academic research focuses on working with parents and teachers navigating the special education system, and how to promote collaborative relationships within a child’s school team. At the forefront of my research is my passion for ensuring that every child has access to equitable, meaningful education. My clinical training has involved working with a variety of complex learning and mental health needs within different community settings.
